With iClarify® JT3, you have possibility to substitute more expensive or less functional clear materials and increases the appearance of current polypropylene and outstanding optical performance of polypropylene.

How iClarify® do the job

The physical and chemical properties of polymer depend on the polymer’s molecular structure and configuration, which direct the solid-state structure of the material. Depending on how flexible, regular, long or bulky the molecular chains are, polymers will feature an amorphous, unordered or partly crystalline structure of their solid state. Amorphous materials are normally transparent, due to their homogeneous arrangement and lack of short- and long- range order.

Polypropylene is a semi-crystalline polymer. The presence of this crystalline structure enhances the stiffness, as well as the mechanical properties of the material. Polypropylene normally crystallizes slowly and forms relatively large complex crystal aggregates known as “spherulites”. This phenomenon is called “nucleation” process.

The size of these spherulites in polypropylene is generally larger than the wavelength of visible light resulting in light scattering and hazing of the material. It is the main reason polypropylene has appearance with low clarity and haze.

Concept of Clarifying with control Nucleation

Adding a clarifier to polypropylene is same to introducing "additional sites" in which spherulites can initiate their growth. When polypropylene is added with iClarify®, the rate of crystal initiation is increased by orders of magnitude throughout the polymer. Because many more crystals are growing in the same amount of space, they are all much smaller in size. The result is crystals smaller than the wavelength of visible light that allow light to pass through, imparting enhanced clarity. iClarify® will dissolve in the polypropylene melt has proven to efficiently increase the transparency and clarity of the material, while reducing its haze.

Simple Process

iClarify® JT3 is powder form which is simple processing as dry mix compound or masterbatch form. It is effective in all processing methods end user including all types of injection molding, blow molding, & thermoforming processes.

Main Application

iClarify® JT3 is applicable for application food storage, home appliances, baby bottles, drinking water bottles, cosmetics bottles and jars, and pharmaceuticals packaging.

Dosage Application

The recommended amount of addition is 0.2-0.3% and the processing temperature is 190 – 260 oC.
